Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS)

Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS) is a high-purity organosulfur compound widely used in petrochemical, refinery, and chemical processing industries. It is a clear to pale yellow liquid with a strong sulfur odor and is valued for its effectiveness as a sulfurizing agent and sulfiding catalyst precursor.

DMDS is primarily used for pre-sulfiding and continuous sulfiding of hydroprocessing catalysts, helping improve catalyst activation and extend operational life in refineries. Its controlled sulfur release, consistent composition, and ease of handling make it a preferred choice over traditional sulfur sources.

Key Features & Benefits
  • High-purity sulfur-containing compound

  • Efficient sulfurizing agent for catalysts

  • Ensures uniform and controlled sulfur release

  • Enhances catalyst performance and longevity

  • Stable liquid form for accurate dosing

  • Reliable and consistent industrial-grade quality

Typical Applications
  • Petroleum Refineries: Catalyst sulfiding in hydrotreating and hydrocracking units

  • Petrochemical Industry: Sulfur source in chemical processes

  • Chemical Manufacturing: Intermediate in organosulfur compounds

  • Specialty Applications: Sulfur donor in industrial reactions

Packaging & Storage
  • Supplied in MS-approved drums, IBCs, or bulk containers

  • Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from heat and ignition sources

  • Keep containers tightly closed and properly labeled

Safety & Handling
  • For industrial use only

  • Handle with appropriate PPE and adequate ventilation

  • Avoid inhalation, skin, and eye contact

  • Follow applicable safety data sheet (SDS) guidelines
